Just a quick note. 🙂 (I am still on vacation). When you are afforded a day off or a mini-vacation like I have been blessed with, try hard to focus on doing things that are memorable and are healthy. I am not your judge or your jury, but fight the temptation to drink or chemically enhance the vacation away. Shutting off your brain doesn’t make the Alzheimer’s problem go away any more than hiding under your sheets makes the monster under your bed go away. It may feel soothing at the time, but real healing comes while sober. You need to be strong for your loved one.
Again…no judgement here.
Mom was super pooped yesterday. She was still happy and pretty mellow, but was so tired that the sundowners is probably rearing its ugly head again. Pam is going to chat with the doc today. There is a sense that our good streak is ending soon too…something uneasy going on. We shall pray and see…

Note: if you need respite help, it is worth your time to call your local area agency on aging. (SeniorAge is our local agency) It is also worth a call to the local Alzheimer’s Association office. This can be found at this link. 🙂
