When Lamech had lived 182 years, he had a son. –Genesis 5:28
I am pressed for time today going into a busy holiday weekend, but I did have one point of encouragement for you. I know the road is long. It is rocky. It has snakes, some of which are eating other snakes. It may seem like it is endless, but it isn’t. Please just know that despite the apparent length of the road, there is a wonderful home awaiting at the end. Tomorrow I will be running my longest preparation road to date. I am shooting for 31 miles from Springfield to U Highway (see the map below)…but I know my home awaits.
At home I have “my” chair and “my” ottoman.
At home I have my pickle popsicles.
At home I have my cats and my family, not necessarily in that order.
At home I have my comfy clothes.
At home I have my relaxation.
At home paradise is sorta restored…but a true paradise awaits.
Know, believer, that that day may seem distant to your loved one and to you, but compared to the eternity that awaits, it is very near. Rest in that once you arrive and rest in that as you run your race. The best is yet to come…
Update: Mom’s nursing home had another Covid case, somehow. (I suppose with 40% employee vaccination, it can happen.) Therefore we are Shawshanked from there again for what will seem like an eternity. She isn’t doing well at all right now. She can barely open one eye and the second one is closed for the most part. We have taken her off her anxiety meds in hope that she will have more energy. I am working on lining up a music therapist so that whenever the Shawshank quarantine is lifted we can get her some music to dream to… Until then we wait…and not give up. We will march on, step-after-step, until the days pass and we can hang out again. It is a challenging time indeed. However, remember that these hard times are like a black velvet board behind a jewel at the jewelry store. A diamond ring would be pretty enough with an ugly 1970s double knit plaid as a backdrop, but when you put something dark and cold in the background like black velvet, the shine and sparkle is that much more profound. Our current life is as black velvet and heaven is the jewel. Keep your head up, friend. 🙂 Keep marching…

Oh, and a Super Happy Memorial Day weekend! 🙂

OH MY GOODNESS…BLOGGERBOY DIDN’T ASK FOR MONEY!
Hey, I am not that persistent. We are nearing $4100 on a goal of $5280 is 3 weeks and 1 day to go until run day. 🙂 Am I worried? Nope.
By the way, don’t click on this smiley face under any circumstance:
