I will put sinews on you, make flesh grow back on you, cover you with skin and put breath in you that you may come alive; and you will know that I am the Lord.’” -Ezekiel 37:6
Hi all! Happy Hump Day…the day we set aside weekly as a reminder that we are soon to be half way through the week and “over the hump”. 🙂 Today is my last day working for a week as I am taking a mini-vacay. Thursday and Friday and Saturday I plan on getting some rest and relaxation, maybe fishin’ a little, and toward the end getting ready to do my next clinical study. I will fill you in on the details when I return. I have sooo many plans and so little time to execute said plans, but that is OK…if something falls through the cracks, it will all still be great! 🙂
Mom has had a hard couple of days. It began a week or two ago when the COVID bug reared its ugly head at her nursing home again. They have nearly 1/4 of the residents testing positive again despite all having had vax and multiple boosters. Mom has evaded it this time, but she did have a very concerning seizure a couple of weeks ago and her O2 level has been struggling. If you are unfamiliar how that works, here is a short video:
LINK and when your O2 Saturation isn’t well: LINK
What gives me pause is, right after mom’s seizure, she appeared to make some snoring sounds according to the head nurse. That, combined with the low O2, makes me wonder if she is having sleep apnea. Here is a video about the relationship of apnea and dementia: LINK She sleeps 20 hours per day, typically on her back and some on her side. It gives me pause that these positions, along with sleeping inclined, may contribute to this potentially correlative condition. I will discuss it further with the staff tonight when I visit again and will undoubtedly be supplementing her breathing with O2 going forward. Her O2 has been below 90 in multiple measurements which is very concerning given her already fragile condition. We’ll stay on it and do the best we can to keep things ok, knowing we are bailing out the Titanic of problems with a spoon of prevention.
I will be taking the next week off of posts, but I will post on Facebook often. I have some ideas for Facebook lives while I am joining in research, but I need them to approve my scheme. 🙂
Have a great weekend and I will see you all back here soon. Please keep sharing the page and the social media posts. I cannot fix the newsletter right now. Google insists that I am sending out spam so much that it even goes to MY spam box. No sense paying for that. Thank you for all you do and for helping me move the needle every day a little toward a world with no Alzheimer’s and related dementias..
