Today mom was pretty happy when I arrived. Very anxious, but generally good spirits. She said “Hi! It is my buddy!” to me. 🙂 Ms. Sue, one of the Sweet 17, asked her who I was and she said I am her youngest of 3…Pamela, Steve and Mark. (!!!!) That is the most she has remembered since Spring! Then she completely forgot who I was shortly later in hanging out at supper. She also ran into a long-time friend while at the eye doctor and, according to my sis, carried on a cogent conversation more than she had in a long time. Shortly after, she melted down for the doctor. Such a hard to understand disease. 🙁
Additionally, sadly, one of the Sweet 17 passed away this weekend, and it caused everyone anxiety and sadness Alzheimer’s-style. It happens to everyone, but it in the Alzheimer’s ward it has a different feel. 🙁 Sometimes forgetting makes grief easier…until you remember again. I have to wonder if some of the Sweet 17 have had to relive her passing more than once. 🙁 I hope not…
