The flip side of yesterday’s article “Are You Sure You Have Dementia” actually secretly begs the same question as today’s. Do you know one way or another? While this may be a less satisfying article from a new content perspective, this topic is crucial to one of the key concepts I shoot to get across: If you have doubt, even a little, ask the doctor. If you still have doubt, get a second opinion. Not knowing there is a bear outside of the tent by zipping yourself in your sleeping bag and breathing out of a straw on its corner and playing anti-bear music doesn’t keep it from being there.
Yesterday we looked at dozens of things (some that were silly) that appear like dementia, but can be treated and will likely not result in your ending up at room temperature. (Sorry, I don’t like talking about dying because, in this context, it is too negative even though all of us are terminal in some shape or form.)
So what I want from you is to take a look at two related articles. One is the Alzheimer’s Association’s excellent 10 Signs article/flier and the other is my little interpretation/translation of it that shows up at the top of the list of all posts because I believe it to be very important. Here are their links:

Read these both through for your sake and/or for the sake of your loved one. I wish I had instead of missing my mom’s disease progression like I did. My loss can be your gain. 🙁
Lots more to say here, but I will let these two pieces stand on their own. Read and comment and share…please. 🙂 And thank you for letting me beat the many times dead room temperature horse one more time.
Update: I had a nice, but short visit with mom and fly-by with the Sweet 17. She is still pretty happy albeit tired. She started the tremors again yesterday too, which may be a sign of being cold, having some anxiety, something new or just the progression of the disease. My best bet is the anxiety option. After I sat with her a while, holding her hand, they stopped. Sometimes that is all it takes. 🙂 (That has an article written allllll over it. Tomorrow perhaps.)
