The prudent sees danger and hides himself, but the simple go on and suffer for it. -Prov 22:3
Hi all! Happy Monday. 🙂 My intent was a completely different piece today that I will have to pick back up later. We had a bad storm last night and a part of my job is disaster preparation and recovery. I have been calling around and doing a lot in that realm trying to help those who were caught off-guard.
Just a quick reminder: don’t be caught off-guard by dementia. If you or a loved one show warning signs, call your doc! There are many things that mimic this disease…it is worth a check. In addition, every new medicine that comes through the pipeline will require this early detection. 🙂 Lastly, despite the fact that the vast majority of dementia is NOT hereditary, it seems like its propensity can “run in the family” sometimes. I have at least my mom, grandma, and uncle on the one side although others may have had it as well. If this is you, treat it very, very seriously.
Just like when a storm is coming is a bad time to prepare, when dementia is coming can be later than you would wish.
If you have questions or problems with the disease, please holler at me any time. My email is mark.applegate@senioragemo.org and my cell for calls or texts is 417-955-2513.
Thank you friends! Hoping and praying that we soon #EndALZ

Update: Mom is about the same. Her wheeze is getting better but will likely not go away since she aspirates her food and drinks a lot. I will see her shortly and give her a hug for you and for me.
