Good, long visit with mom tonight. She is fairly weak and dependent on eating for energy and sleep these days. How can you tell this, Dr. Obviouspants? The first 30 minutes of the visit mom looked down and only said a few things in my general direction. Then the meds and food kicked in and she discovered I was there. The last 20 minutes of the visit was piano time. 🙂 She is wearing down and her dexterity isn’t great on the piano right now, but she is still amazing. We had some bonus singing from the nearly deaf Ms. L. Very precious. 🙂
Rough patch: At one point in the middle of the first hour I told her that I love her and that she is a great mom. She smiled weakly and said “I am trying “. It is rare when we converse much, but that was extremely emotional. Little moments …little, sad glimpses of what Teepa Snow calls the pearl are breathtaking at the time.
We had a Sweet 17 newbie pass out today, but was fortunate to be caught by the nurse. She, as are several there, struggles to eat enough. Hand-feeding a bunch of ladies is hard logistically. Mom even needs to be hand fed, which one of us typically does. Meds often require food to either work or to not make you sick. It is critical…and hard. Praying this princess does ok in the hospital. 🙁
Stinkin’ disease.
