I love education. I realize my writing style doesn’t point you into seeing me as scream out that I am a particularly smart fella, but I have spent some time…perhaps too much time…in the ol’ university.
Fun Fact: I have attended college in 4 different decades (The 80s, 90s, 00s, and 10s). That is pretty good for someone in their late 40s who is not a doctor. 😉 I, just last year, took a course of gerontology at an absolutely wonderful local school called Southwest Baptist University.
(Note:Unless the Good Lord returns faster, I should finish paying off my student loans in about 2099. 😉 )
Are you interested in college? No, not for a degree…just for an amazing class on dementia. No cash? It is FREE!!! Amazingly, the University of Tasmania, a world class dementia research school, has made available a college-level course that provides an overview of the umbrella of dementia diseases. It is entry-level, doesn’t insult your intelligence nor does it talk over you. It is free…did I mention free(?), requires no previous college/testing/etc… It is a MOOC (Massive Open Online Course) and has 150,000+ attendees so far including me. I am on module 2 right now.
If you are interested in joining me and my 150,000 closest friends, the link to this completely free class is here
or email me at mark.applegate@senioragemo.org if you have further questions. 😉
