He has made everything beautiful in its time. He has also set eternity in the human heart; yet no one can fathom what God has done from beginning to end. Ecc. 3:11
Another week wrapping up fast. I wasn’t able to post Wednesday and today has to be a short thought too. There just isn’t enough time in the day. This is an ironic statement as 1. There has always been exactly the same amount of time in a day +/- a fraction of a second here and there caused by imperfect calculations by imperfect minds… and 2. With all of the technology we have created to simplify our lives, it has made it even harder to find 5 minutes to exhale and relax. But that is where we find ourselves.
Just a brief description of our quarterly care meeting with mom’s nursing home. Backing up a step…when you have a loved one in a nursing home, there is typically a required meeting to go over the care he/she is receiving. Yu can ask questions, get updates, and share concerns. We typically do all of the above as we are active in mom’s care.
Our 2 discussions today were as follows: 1. We want to do genetic counseling for mom so we can pass that info to the many clinical studies I am involved in. 2. Her current condition: she has lost 20 pounds this year already. It is a concern, but will be more of a concern should she lose another 20 pounds next quarter. She is still eating and seems pain free although the stiffening gives us pause. Here is an explanation of that: LINK
So, the bottom line: all is pretty well unless the weight loss gets worse. She has pain meds, they flip her early and often in her bed, and she has no obvious bedsores. Are things perfect? Nope. 🙁 BUT, things could…and will get worse. So for now, we coast and build strength even as she loses it.
Have a great weekend, friends. 🙂

Run update: 31 miler in the morning in prep. Sigh. Gonna be pooped after that one. 🙂
