Oh the joys of nature! I love a pretty sunset, the sound of a Hoot Owl or a smell of freshly-cut grass like the next guy, but sometimes nature is downright inconvenient! Today is a good example. I have to work from home today because the rental of which we call our humble abode has termites again. It is the third time in the 5+ years we have lived here that these little white beasts have visited. There has been various damage inflicted by our form of Cryptotermes, ranging from mere fear and anxiety to minor damage to some of our stored records and paperwork boxes to bigger structural damage. It just depends where these stinkin’ things choose to set up shop.
Gosh, I wish I knew a disease that worked similarly to these stinkin’ insects. 🙁 I would probably write a blog about it.
Seriously, everything in your daily life calls your mind to your loved one who suffers under this stinkin’ disease. It is hard to get your mind off of, then you feel guilty that you did. Sad situation for all involved. 🙁
I hate dementia…I just do. 🙁
Update: mom had another good day, relatively speaking, yesterday. We have decided to give the move to the general population a trial run. Thank you for your wisdom through comments and emails. We will visit the Sweet 17 on the way out daily and say Hi and tease the ones that like a good ribbing. It is a sad situation to be moving out because we have a great relationship with the ladies and they have very, very, very few visitors. We will move her next Monday.
Note for word nerds like me: Cryptotermes is a odd word that seems to mean “Hidden”+ “Woodworms”. Pretty much makes perfect sense… It is very different than the similar-sounding ArchaeoTempo which I drive to work every day… with no AC. 😉
Note: Mephistopheles is Not Your Name was a line from a Police song in the 80s. Mephistopheles may German folklore, but if it was real it would be related to termites and dementia somehow.
