Nice visit with mom today. She was pretty gelatinous when I got there…lying in bed staring weakly and bored out of her skull at the wall. She smiled when I got there and we started the perpendicular polka…in other words, I had to get her sitting up. Slowly but surely, a few bed control clicks at a time, I got her to a solid 60 degrees…then we just hung out.
One bright note: She seemed inflated a click or two, so I asked if she ate lunch. She said yes, quite unconvincingly. I probed, in my best Sherlock mannerism, “Are you full?”
Her response? “A fool, maybe…”.
Lol…nearly literally!! Nice to hear some word play and see a smile from mom. 🙂
The rest of the visit
was largely word salad with extra croutons, but she was happy and I got a
laugh, so all is well.
🙂
It reminds me of my take on fishing (one of mom’s favorite activities later in
life): I can fish all day long and not catch a stinkin’ baby perch
skeleton…but if I catch one fish, or at least get one solid, non-hallucinated
nibble, I am ready to do it again the next chance I get.
Said another way:
Memory unit cost $190/day.
Extra cost of gas this week to see mom $30
Squeezing a joke out of mom: Priceless.
