I will be attending the Alzheimer’s Association event today parallel to South Campbell behind City Butcher. This day is a great reminder of the caregiving heroes who sit with these patients for 24/7/365 and are largely unseen by most of us. They truly live the 36 hour day! My stepdad fell into this category for the last couple years before we were forced almost a year ago, for safety reasons, to have mom placed in a local memory unit. If you know one of these warriors, visit them today. Give them a hug and a break. Bring them a casserole. Show them you care. 🙂
If you are struggling in this role, know that you are not alone. My recommendation is to make 2 phone calls immediately. Call your local Area Agency on Aging and call the Alzheimer’s Association‘s national support line at 1-800-272-3900. These two organizations, in most cases with no charge, can provide you with a tremendous amount of help and support.
Thank you all for being supportive of me and my family and for the encouraging words about my little blog. Have a great weekend!

Update: Another good day. Not much to report. All facets of Team Mom are working the way they should and she is still staying stable. 🙂
Bless you for all your hard work and caring heart….
Thank you Sandy 🙂
