Listen, for I have trustworthy things to say; I open my lips to speak what is right. Proverbs 8:6
Happy Weekend-ish to all! I wish I had more time today, but this is one of my kiddoes’ birthdays and I have revelry to attend to. 🙂 Mom’s birthday is this weekend, my step-dad’s was this week and my other two kids’ birthdays are plus or minus 10 days as well. Only my wife is an outlier. 😉
Just our yearly simple reminder of how much this disease stinks: Mom loves birthdays and celebrating and spending time with her grandkids/great grandkids…and was doing an awesome job grandmoming before this stupid disease came and wrecked everything. She was in amazing shape for her age…and really for someone 20 years younger. She walked a lot, worked hard, ate right, stopped smoking over 20 years ago, and kept mentally stimulated…and the stinkin’ disease came anyway! Prevention is still our primary game plan, but know that it is NOT fool-proof. 33-40%, perhaps, according to recent statistics, may be avoided…a large number indeed(!!!), but many cannot. A couple of platitudinal takeaways:
- Treat every day, birthday or otherwise, like it could be your last
- Plan ahead
- Call your doc if you have a warning sign of dementia
- What is good for the heart is good for the brain
- Live life to the most full :)…but plan for eternity

Birthdays past:
Hard stuff folks…hard stuff.
Nevertheless, we march on, hoping and praying for a cure.
And to all my birthday family and friends…celebrate and celebrate whole-heartily. 🙂 Mom would demand no less. 🙂
