His clothes became dazzling white, whiter than anyone in the world could bleach them. Mark 9:3
Happy Friday to all. I am heading into the long weekend needing a breather, to be sure. Covid wore me out the last couple of weeks. 🙁 Today marks day 539 (1 year 174 days) of restricted access to seeing mom at the nursing home due to Covid. Think it is a hard decision to place your loved one into nursing home care, you are right. Knowing you get 2 fifteen-twenty minute sessions per week to visit to share among all the family makes that decision infinitely harder. I am so sorry you have to deal with that kind of thing along with me…and if you don’t, be thankful!
Note the 174 in the numbers above. I just have a minute to write today, but I wanted to remind you that next June’s Runnin’ Til I’m Purple event is going to be the same as this year on day 1…then I am going to jump another shark and run day two around 20-25 more miles to mom’s hometown of Chesapeake. Part will be ran on ole Route 66 and the other part on Highway 174. (60+ miles covering 2 days in the longest weekend of the year scientifically…jumpin’ a shark indeed! 😉 These two roads are not ideal on which to run because their shoulder isn’t great…but I will make it work. 🙂 Here are two sets of maps that show the span:
Maps of the trailhead to Chesapeake: Option 1 Option 2 Option 3
The end of the run will be at the spring by the fish hatchery…or whenever they cart me away. 😉
Here is an article I did describing mom’s childhood at Chesapeake, still to this day of of my favorites to write:
Can I make it? Can we find a cure? Yes and yes…equally so. Details coming soon after our Walk to End Alzheimer’s Disease, happening 9/25/21 in Springfield, Mo. Here are the details:
Join my team and/or donate if possible. 🙂 Even if you can’t come, join. 🙂 Please. 3 weeks to go…
🙂
Not much to report on mom today. I botched my scheduling and failed to notify them that we needed back to a Tue/Thur schedule for visiting mom…and we had to miss Thursday because of it.
Sigh…is this Shawshank’ed period of not getting to visit ever going to end???
Have a great weekend and keep fighting to #EndALZ
