For sin shall no longer be your master, because you are not under the law, but under grace. Romans 6:14
Hi all! A sincere happy Monday to you! I hope and trust your weekend went well, if not too fast. Tomorrow night is my virtual support group at 5pm CST and my in-person one at 6pm CST. Hopefully those go well because I know their is tremendous demand.
I have a BUNCH of things I need to accomplish at work (SeniorAge) and for the Alzheimer’s Association today, so I want to offer you my daughter’s YouTube video about my upcoming run as a wonderful substitute for my normal article. I will shoot for a normal piece on Wednesday….sooooo much to say and such little time.
Thank you for checking us out and I wish you the best day possible.

Update: Still no visits nor a way to get impartial information from mom’s facility. Sooooo frustrated. Praying often…
Run Update: I ran 13.1 miles Saturday in the heat as my last long prep run. My previous long runs (Saturdays for the most part) have been in the 50s-70s for the most part, so this week was a rude awakening. I did fine and it helped prepare me for the biggie. I checked out my app and my long runs have now tallied 291.9 miles in 2021. Weekday runs, nearly all of which have been on the dreaded treadmill (the dreadmill) have tallied 4,618 minutes of running or walking. Since I am not using a device to keep track of miles, to estimate, I run/walk about 4.3 mph, so I should have accumulated about 1074 miles there (Note: more often than not I am at 5-5.5 MPH, but when I walk, sometimes I do 3.5 MPH on steep incline. 4.3 is very conservative…). Therefore I should be at about 1366 miles. For reference, this figure is the exact same number of air miles from flying from Springfield, Mo to Lewiston, Idaho or to Perris, California.
I have also completed a thousand or more minutes of weightlifting and stationary bike riding. I have read several books about running and have completed about 15 audiobooks while slogging along. Through all of this my family has been super patient and supportive and I deeply appreciate them each. 🙂
Sooooooo…..am I ready?
I hope so.
I am still in need of figuring out the heat, but I feel really good that I can make it. I am mission-minded, and my mission, regardless of the time it will take, is to finish with my head held high and give the OK sign like mom did in our little video of her playing the piano here:

The weather forecast is evolving for Saturday. The rain chances are up to 30% now and they mention an early evening storm as a possibility. That, to me, would be a challenge. We shall see as we get closer to run time… Severe thunderstorms would be the worst case scenario, but unless I am dang sure they are coming, I will keep on going to the end.
Thank you for all of your encouragement and your donations, which exceeded the $5280 goal and are still coming in! 🙂
Together we will slay this dementia beast and we will celebrate its defeat together! 🙂
