“Suddenly a furious storm came up on the lake, so that the waves swept over the boat. But Jesus was sleeping.” –Matthew 8:24
Welcome to Meme Week. It is like Shark Week, but with memes instead of large, toothy sharks doing the biting. If you have surfed the web, you have seen memes whether you recognize them or not. The official/unofficial definition is listed by Collins as :
1. an idea or element of social behavior passed on through generations in a culture, esp by imitation 2. an image or video that is spread widely on the internet, often altered by internet users for humorous effect.
I like these two definitions, but they kind of sell the concept’s value short. A strong meme can convey what I novel would struggle to convey. They can be funny and they can be serious…or both. In some ways, they are the language of the under 30 generation and should be considered a tool in your advocacy toolbox. Don’t underestimate their power.
Note: Meme Week may be a little lighter on content, but it should, hopefully, be profound nevertheless. 🙂 Each day this week…a couple of funny memes and then a serious one or two. Off we go:

Please send me your favorite memes to mark.applegate@senioragemo.org and I may post them in Meme Week! 🙂
Update: Nothing new to report. I get to finally see mom for my 20 minutes on Wednesday. 🙁 It is hard to not consider taking her out of the nursing home if we could formulate a new plan to do so.
Diet update: Lost another 3.8 this week for 84 total! 9 weeks to lose 16 pounds and get to 100 lost by my anniversary trip. 🙂 Woot…I will make it.
