Alone………………
Watching and waiting, she’s there, and yet not.
Alone at the window. Who would have thought?
Over seven decades of friends, family, more.
Who could have imagined what was in store?
A brave fly in dementia’s web now caught.
Watching and waiting, she’s there, and yet not.
Alone now by her phone. Who could have thought?
Life of the party, No ball to attend.
Always needed. “Can you help?…” Calls now end.
The princess once busy… alone…a lot.
Watching and waiting, she’s there, and yet not.
Alone in her wheelchair. Who should have thought?
Always working. Too busy. My Excuse.
Left her alone like some kind of recluse.
Now daily less remembered, more forgot.
Watching and waiting, she’s there, and yet not.
Alone in her mind. Staring in deep thought?
How can I fix this, or make it less hard?
As her son, I protect. I care. I guard.
Some help 49 years raising me brought!
Watching and waiting, she’s there, and yet not.
Alone I left her. Alone there to rot.
My choices and my options have been thin.
A sadness-spun net of guilt I’m now in.
Weak…I’d fail given the battle mom’s fought.
Watching and waiting, she’s there, and yet not.
Alone with her Savior. Held tight like a knot.
He promised to never leave us alone.
One-sided faithfulness always is shown.
With His blood on the cross, mom He bought.
Not alone…………………………………………………………

Such heart felt comments! So sorry she’s still in lockdown! Our elderly do not deserve this!
Our Texas governor just let us in the nursing facilities the beginning of October. The rules are not all uniform across Texas as to the length and frequency of visits, but at least we got in!
There was guidance in Missouri, but it is left to local discretion and most have little or no in-person visit options. They are coming around, but…
