Dementia is like a thief,
Victims are robbed, that is true
Like a ship that strikes the reef,
And steals captain and the crew.
You may not remember me,
but I still remember you!
Dementia is like a thorn,
Florists know its painful stab
While a rose stem leaves me torn,
I know you are worth the jab.
You may not remember me,
but I still remember you!
Dementia is like a well,
Memories fall, headlong, in
Contrived from this pit of hell,
Unleashed from Adam’s first sin
You may not remember me,
but I still remember you!
Dementia is like a gash,
On my lil girl’s velvet knee,
I would gladly give my cash,
To move all your pain to me
You may not remember me,

Dementia is like a void,
At which your eyes stare and stare,
Stricken blank by Amyloid/
Tau Tangles… no mercy there.

Dementia is like (zero)
Is like… no words I can share
Inside my mom’s a hero
Outside she is barely there.

So no simile will do,
I love you, mom, just the same
Dementia’s days will soon be through,
