“One
day at a time sweet Jesus
That’s all I’m asking from you.
Just give me the strength
To do every day what I have to do.
Yesterday’s gone sweet Jesus
And tomorrow may never be mine.
Lord help me today, show me the way
One day at a time.”
Mom loves to play “One Day at a
Time”.
🙂
Today proved that tomorrow may never be mine for
two members of the Sweet 17. By my count 7 have passed since mom has arrived,
but my stepdad has 6 mentally logged. Either way 1/3 of the original band moved
on to a far better venue. Went on the road, if you will…
🙁
Typical of Alzheimer’s patients by the time they are sentenced to the memory unit. 🙁 According to the Alzheimer’s Association, 4 to 8 years after diagnosis is the most common lifespan although outliers are much less or can be nearly 20 years depending on many factors. Hoping and praying for a cure or at least a treatment that is proven to work.
Mom had a really good day. We had nice interactions…really nice. She was pretty happy, played the piano well, and took her meds. She was eating well until she fizzled out and almost zonked out in her orange mush. I tucked her in when she told me yet again she wishes she was gone. 🙁 Depression is more real for mom the more cogent she is. I tell her over and over again how great of a mom she is and how she is loved, and she stops being sad for a while. It is hard for her to see purpose in her life when she hits a lucid spell, so I am glad when I am there to reinforce her worth. I feel for the other ladies who “only” have the Lord to remind them of how special they truly are.
Cute photo bomb by one of my favorite Sweet 17 princesses…see pix. She is extremely funny and sweet except when she isn’t. You would have to be there…
Lol
Come on researchers…stop with the love robots and the cures for thinning eyebrows and let’s knock out this stupid disease while there is still any left in the band. The ladies are taking it one day at a time…
