Yet another nice evening visit with mom. Meds were a tad dicey, but she eventually took them from me. (Whew!)
The memory unit got two new Sweet Mates today. Both are quite awesome. One of the new ladies, I will call her Super Woman, was a particularly sweet and fruitful darling. She is in her mid-90s and still sharper memory-wise and verbally than mom. She is 99% deaf (I am not an Audiologist or the son of one, but she can’t hear anything without screaming in her ear.) She sang the old hymns super loud, but did her best and was closer to being on pitch than I am. To add to the audio supernova, she would sing one song at level 85 while mom played a different tune at a solid level 65….and the radio was on with Alan Jackson chiming in with a third song at about level 50. Some Sweet 17ers loved it. Some didn’t. Our 102-year-old friend there almost came to blows with this 94-year-old songbird. I was seriously considering sitting in the corner in fetal position trying while they sort it all out. My ears, after the first 25 years of my life listening to hair bands too loudly, then the next 20+ listening to Christian music too loudly, hate loud sounds and songs. What a night. 🙂
