Stuck
They are damsels in distress
Wandering all day and all night
Life’s in limbo, in constant duress.Such is the life of the Sweet 17,
Not here, not gone, but stuck somewhere in between.
It wasn’t always this way,
In years gone by, things were all right
Families, grand kids, bedrock… no sway.
Such was the life of the Sweet 17,
Now… not here, not gone, stuck somewhere in between.Miss W. : the teacher,
Trained your kids by day, hers by night ,
Through blank stares, I can’t seem to reach her
Such is the life of the Sweet 17,
Not here, not gone, but stuck somewhere in between.Or Impetuous Miss M
She wore a badge upholding right,
Memories gone, sadness to the rim
Such is the life of the Sweet 17,
Not here, not gone, but stuck somewhere in between.Perhaps the mom: Mrs. N,
Lack of visitors is her plight,
Loneliness, sadness, empty within.
Such is the life of the Sweet 17,
Not here, not gone, stuck but somewhere in between. How about frail Mrs E?
100 years young, still upright
But wearing down, slowly but surely.
Such is the life of the Sweet 17,
Not here, not gone, stuck somewhere in between. There are millions in the band,
Against dementia they will fight
We need a cure now, do understand.
Such is the life of the Sweet 17,
Not here, not gone, stuck somewhere in between.#EndALZ
