And I saw the dead, great and small, standing before the throne, and books were opened. Then another book was opened, which is the book of life. And the dead were judged by what was written in the books, according to what they had done. -Rev. 20:12
I don’t typically write posts delving into the deeper issues of theology for the most part in our little corner of the Cornbreadsphere, but I just had a quick point and a reminder today. Oh, and Happy 4th of July early. 😉
Back to the topic at hand although I DO LOVE America. 🙂
I got a super weird spam email yesterday in which someone wrote a few thousand word rant accusing my step-father of being a stalker. They had about 20 bullet points, nearly all of which are easily disproved. They used generalities, though, enough that a handful would describe him…and half of the men in town. Enter the title above:
How could someone target a dementia caregiver or, as is often the case, the patient themselves? identity theft is rampant among this group. Can you imagine working for 70 years in many cases only to have a con man steal it completely. And from a cognitively-impaired person no less?
There has to be a special place in Hell for them. A little hotter. A little unturned wormier? A dash more brimstonic? Just down the hall from the superstars of hell, but within earshot.
We called the police on this one because there was some things about it more unsettling than most and they did a great job following up. However, the extra 3 hours of awaketime last night wreaked havoc on my day today. You see, I need beauty sleep or the rest of me quickly looks and feels like my feet do after a 37 mile run or two…
So I leave this as a reminder: Guard your loved ones with dementia and their caregivers. The snakes are out there…we have to be watching even closer.
Have a great weekend, friends. God’s peace and comfort to you this weekend even a bit more than ever as the fireworks are not a great diversion for a patient trying to find routine. Let’s keep fighting to #EndALZ while we are at it. 🙂
Update: Mom had a bad day yesterday, along with the rest of us. She had another seizure in the morning, according to our nurse. She followed this up by loud snore sounds. It made me think that she was having sleep apnea that is made worse by her condition. She was stable the rest of the day, but it was scary nevertheless.
I will keep checking…
I care deeply about theology and am happy to discuss it off blog any time. 🙂
