Mom was actually in a good mood today. 2 nights in a row with adequate sleep has helped. She still is “revved up” with anxiety out of fear of losing her possessions/her directions and she paces most of the day, but she truly seems to be settling in better. One of her ward-mates, though, repeatedly (100+ times) during dinner said very loudly the following “I want to get out of here! I love you. You are a son of a b@#$%.” One of my other new friends living there, tired of the show, meekly said to me “I kind of wish someone would put a wet towel in her mouth”. Lol.
Had another nice first conversation with a resident who introduced herself with her name and told me she grew up in a neighboring town and asked me where I am from. I did the same. Seemed quite sharp. Then did the same exact thing around 25 times over supper…same word sequence. Sweet little lady. 🙁
The Alzheimer’s ward isn’t an ideal conversation factory.
